Grinco was born around 2016 as one of three startups incubated under our internal 'Entrepreneur In Residence' program at Plum. The goal was to build a robust SaaS product from scratch that solved real pain points in our market. Grinco was created to help merchants eliminate administrative headaches and focus on sales, turning electronic billing from a problem into a business management advantage.
We developed a cloud-based management system ideal for any venture, shop, or SME. Simple and intuitive, it allows users to manage clients, sales, product inventory, billing, running accounts, and VAT. Our premise was immediacy and zero friction: no installation, no renewals, and no licenses needed. With simple, user-friendly screens, and without the need to read a manual or tutorial, we made it possible for a business to be online and ready to bill in just 5 minutes.
We designed a scalable architecture that runs 24/7, 365 days a year, accessible from anywhere using a laptop, smartphone, PC, or tablet. The system automates key processes, such as obtaining the CAE (Electronic Authorization Code) via the AFIP (national tax authority) web services and automatically emailing invoices to clients. We also added advanced features like multi-branch management within the same software, multi-user permissions, and inventory control that triggers alerts when a product falls below minimum stock levels.
Beyond basic billing, we built features that provide business intelligence. The system allows users to update product purchase prices using purchase invoices, generates running accounts to keep client and supplier balances up to date, and offers organized statistics to help users make crucial decisions for their growth, such as comprehensive account reports and best-selling product lists.
The successful sale (exit) of Grinco in 2018 not only validated our internal incubation model here at Plum, but also laid the foundation for a tool that continues to scale and solve day-to-day operations for countless businesses today.
